APR 6 FOR SANDWICH LABELS
A reliable and competitive ink to print millions of sandwiches
Following a technical and commercial evaluation phase for a number of Thermal Transfer ribbons on the market, this UK sandwich producer selected the inkanto Wax-Resin APR®6 ribbon.
The competitive advantages that made the difference for the APR®6 are:
Its ability to print at high speed on pre-printed labels (in 2 or 3 colours);
Its compliance with Food Contact regulation 1935/2004/EC;
Its compatibility with the various label materials (Fasson, Herma and Rafflatac on 4 SATO printers).
APR 6 USED AT SHOEMAKER BATA
Bata (also known as Bata Shoe Organisation) has a retail presence in over 70 countries and production facilities in 26 countries.
In India, they are the leading footwear manufacturer and retailer manufacturing 45 million pair of shoes per year to serve 120,000 customers per day thru its network of 1200 outlets and 30,000 retailers. With such a large scale of operations in a rapidly growing market, it is imperative to have a complete and automated supply chain visibility.
The application requires a large number of printed barcode labels (1,000,000 – 1,500,000 per month) to be applied on shoe boxes, hang tags for each shoe and shipping boxes. The printed information is used for product identification, inventory management and shipment tracking.
The labels need to be scanned and read from the factory till the point of sales therefore the printed message has to withstand the friction induced between the boxes during long transportation across India.
Barcode being the most economical automated data capturing solution it was the obvious technology to implement at Bata. AutoID specialist Bar Code India (BCIL) recommended a complete Thermal Transfer solution using Zebra Z4M label printers, inkanto Wax/Resin grade APR®6 and label material Fasson TT2C: this successful combination really fulfils Bata’s requirements.
This complete solution, including inkanto Thermal Transfer ribbon APR®6, offers Bata a high level of robustness of the material, a good print quality and a cost effective solution in terms of consumables and maintenance.
GHS LABELS IN COSMETICS
The Belgian laboratory of a leading global cosmetics company specialises in hair care products. The use of chemicals requires the printing of GHS labels.
The GHS (Globally Harmonised System) standard calls for appropriate and harmonised printing of hazardous substances at the international level in order to provide comprehensive user safety information.
Every year 100,000 drums of chemicals must be labelled with the regulatory black & red GHS symbols before they are placed in stock.
Recommended by its partner, Phidata NV, this leading producer selected the inkanto APR®6 Wax-Resin Thermal Transfer ribbon in conjunction with Zebra printers in order to meet the demands of this application.
The selection criteria for the inkanto APR®6 Thermal Transfer ribbon were as follows:
Its ability to print on Fasson paper-coated labels, pre-printed with red GHS diamonds.
The high density of the black APR®6 ink capable of perfectly masking unused red diamonds.
Its fine print quality for the marking of variable information: black GHS symbols, barcodes, product descriptions, traceability data, etc.
The resistance of the print to abrasion caused by handling and by storage conditions over an average period of 6 months.
Its compliance with European RoHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substances) regulations on the content of heavy metals.
At its main production site, ARMOR recycles 100% of the film wastes generated by the production of ribbons.
Printing characteristics of the ribbons are unaltered after several months of storage.
Inkanto ribbons made with the SolFree process are 100% solvent free.
Inkanto ribbons are totally safe for handling and use.
