Roll Coders for Non-Porous Surfaces

 For harsh industrial environments

Universal's proprietary Non-Porous Inking System design eliminates the problems normally associated with using extremely fast drying solvent base inks in a contact roll coder. The system incorporates both an ink roll and an anilox roll in a tightly sealed aluminum housing which enables the use of inks that dry as fast as 2 seconds at 75 degrees F. ambient temperatures. The integrity of the inking system housing prevents solvent loss through evaporation and eliminates the maintenance demands normally associated with coding on non-porous surfaces. Disposable Reservoir Ink Cartridges are used on the fixed mounted versions to re-ink the rolls automatically during production printing. Our Non-Porous Inking System design is covered by international patents, making it unique in the world of non-porous coding.

Universal HPNP-100 Series Hand Printers

Universal HPNP-100 Series Hand Printers are the perfect solution for applying date codes, lot numbers and other product information on metals, glass, plastic, rubber and other non-porous materials. Indexing and non-indexing models are available, both featuring a 1" x 9.1" print area. Universal's new disposable Type MT Ink rolls produce dense black marks which dry in 4 - 6 seconds at 75 degrees F. ambient temperatures. Optional, re-inkable XF Neoprene Ink Rolls can be used with #100 Inks for 2 second dry times.

Universal Large Capacity Non-Porous Hand Printers

Universal Large Capacity Non-Porous Hand Printers provide much larger print areas than the HPNP-100 Series Hand Printers and feature a larger capacity Non-Porous Inking System. Available in both 1" and a 2" print width models with either Indexing or Non-Indexing Print Drums. Universal's disposable Type MT Ink rolls produce dense black marks which dry in 4 - 6 seconds at 75 degree F. ambient temperatures. Optional, re-inkable XF Neoprene Ink Rolls can be used with #100 Inks for 2 second dry times. Perfect for printing on metal, plastic, rubber or other non-porous surfaces.

Universal Non-Porous Mini-Coders

Universal Non-Porous Mini-Coders are the smallest of our fixed mounted Non-Porous coders. Available in both side mount and top mount configurations, indexing, and non-indexing models. These coders feature a 1" x 9.1" print area and are recommended for use with 5/8" and smaller RIBtype® printing dies. A quick change feature enables the print drums to be pulled off the axle without the use of tools to facilitate off-line code changes. All of our coders are constructed from precision machined aluminum and stainless steel component parts.

Universal Non-Porous Midsize Coders

Universal Non-Porous Midsize Coders are available with interchangeable 12", 15" and 18" circumference print drums in both 1" and 2" print width models. Top mounted coders are ideal for continuous web printing on plastic films and side mounted models are particularly well suited for installation on carton sealing machinery. Indexing models feature a compression spring operated cam index mechanism for accurate indexing action even on short cartons or slow-moving conveyor lines. The long frame design and extended deflection capabilities even permit in-line coding on the sides of metal or plastic drums.

Universal Non-Porous Conveyor Line Printers

Universal Non-Porous Conveyor Line Printers feature print drum circumferences of 18". Indexing and non-indexing models area available in both 1" and 2" print widths. Indexing models feature dual compression springs mounted over stainless steel guide shafts which results in extremely fast indexing action and unsurpassed durability. Sealed ball bearings provide smooth, low friction print drum rotation and enable print speeds up to 1,000 fpm when used with our Programmable Ink Delivery Systems.

Universal WPNP-400NI Web Printers

Universal WPNP-400NI Web Printers provide a 4" (100mm) print width and a 19.68" (500mm) print drum circumference. These non-indexing printers are designed for printing on continuous web materials in a top mount installation only. The WPNP Printers use disposable Type MT Ink Rolls for marking on Non-Porous materials.

Universal WPNP-400NI-12 Web Printers

Universal WPNP-400NI-12 Web Printers provide a 4" (100mm) print width and a 37.6" (957mm) print drum circumference. This version of the WPNP Printer is used for continuous web printing applications where longer print repeat intervals are required. The WPNP Printers use disposable Type MT Ink Rolls for marking on Non-Porous materials.

Universal Type MT Ink Rolls

Universal Type MT Ink Rolls Printing on Non-Porous surfaces has become even easier with the introduction of Universal's new disposable non-porous Type MT Ink Rolls. Designed for use in Universal's patented non-porous inking systems, the Type MT Ink Rolls deliver an average of 500,000 high-density impressions. The fast drying ink formula adheres to practically any non-porous surface and dries in 4-6 seconds at 75 degrees F. When the roll is depleted, simply replace it - no re-inking, no mess!
